Carlos Reports Back From Barcelona
Hello!

So, the Barcelona show was just amazing! Obviously it made it extra special being in my home country, and the reaction was just fantastic. There are just no words to describe it, people were jumping from their seats, all the women were going crazy! The DVD is going to look amazing.

I didn’t have any time to go out afterwards and spend time in Barcelona because I was leaving really early in the morning to see my parents the next day in Madrid, but I had 30 friends come to the show, which was great.

The rest of the tour has been brilliant also. Each show is a little bit different – obviously you are singing the same songs, but each crowd makes it feel unique. Although, I have to say that the reactions everywhere have been unbelievable, especially in countries like Germany and Scandinavia, which were a bit quieter on the last tour. Obviously Spain was fantastic, and every time we play in a Latin country the people go crazy. It’s great!

I’ve been trying to go to the gym when I can, but there isn’t a whole lot of time at the moment as we’re mostly going from the hotel to the venue, back to the hotel and then on a plane. So I’m quite tired, but having a great time.

Thanks for all your support so far

Carlos x

David from Serbia!

We’re currently arriving at the airport, on the way to Ljubljana, Slovenia but I just wanted to say hi and let you know what’s going on. Things have been really busy but luckily we have great people around us who just tell us day to day where we need to be.

Last night we played Belgrade in Serbia and it was great. It was our first time playing there and we had a fantastic response. There were over 8, 000 people there who had come from all over – Croatia, Yugoslavia and Serbia. It really shows the universality of music in general and that for all of the racial, political, national or whatever boundaries people put up, music pushes past that.

We’re really far into the tour now but we’re still keeping it fresh. The set remains the same but we do do our best to communicate to whatever country we’re in, for example when we’re in Germany we’ll speak German, Carlos spoke German and I attempted some of my broken German that I learnt in college.

Otherwise when I have a bit of down time to myself I spend it trying to recuperate! I’ll go to the gym or get a massage. Otherwise I’ll do yoga. I also read a lot and currently have eight or nine audio books with me that I’m listening to. I’m reading one called ‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle. It’s all about not living in the past and not thinking too hard about the future as they are only imaginary, you have to focus on the now.

That’s about it for now. But looking forward to seeing you all on the next leg of the tour,

Love David

Seb Reports Back From Rehearsals
It’s a very exciting time for us at the moment as it’s the final few days of rehearsal before our world tour starts in Manchester on Saturday. We’re all working very hard and everything looks absolutely stunning, very stylish and classy. We’ve got together the best people we could find from around the world to put this show on – it’s a fantastic crew and we’re very, very happy.

Our aim has been to bring modern and classical together within the set, both visually and musically. We’re fine tuning the performances all the time, but I don’t think you ever get it 100% perfect for the first show, just because you need an audience there to see how they’re going to react. You might decide to change the order or lose one or two things here and there. I think it’s about 98% there already though!

Working with William Baker on the show has been absolutely amazing.
He has such an incredible eye for everything, he’s very stylish, and I have to say, his vision for Il Divo has been the best we’ve had so far. He really understands what we need and how we want to present ourselves. We had to spend a while looking for that, and I truly believe that this tour is the best thing we’ve ever done.

On the day of the first show I will be going for a walk with my wife and kids, just relaxing and having a normal life. Then we’ll go to the venue and perform a soundcheck. Afterwards I’ll find myself a space on my own and do some vocal warm-ups, get the adrenaline going five minutes before the show, and then once we’re on stage we’ll just enjoy it and have fun! I think that’s the key – it’s easy to stress out about whether the lighting will be ok, about the movements etc. but at the end of the day people come to see humanity and something live, they don’t always want perfection. I think everyone feels pretty relaxed about it all.

After each show I normally go straight home. It takes me a little while to unwind because the adrenaline is still going so I don’t normally go to bed before 2am, but now I’m going to have to try and get to sleep sooner because my kids will be up early in the morning! It’ll take a while to adjust but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing lots of you on the tour, I hope you have a fantastic evening.

Love Seb
